I grew up in Texas, the daughter of sculptor, Mike Cunningham, and currently live in Celina, Texas. I work in acrylic, oil and cold wax drawing inspiration from extensive travel though west Texas and New Mexico. My goal is to create snap shots of feeling and atmosphere, capturing the serenity, isolation and linear motion of the landscapes.
My current series is an exploration of the virga meteorological event, often occurring in the high desert, that creates a streak of falling rain, evaporating before reaching the ground. The series of images are created in black and white in an effort to emphasize the sublime affect the "walking water" has on the landscape.
